Position Description:

Marion County Public Works is seeking a Civil Engineering supervisor and two Civil Engineering Associate 2 for our Engineering Division. The successful candidates will be accomplished civil engineers who like challenge and variety in their work, and desire to work in local government for a mid-sized Oregon county. Civil Engineer – Development Engineering Supervisor The Development Engineering Supervisor is a licensed engineer responsible for managing staff in the engineering review, inspection, and permitting processes related to land development, land use proposals, privately-funded roadway improvements, and public and private utilities. Other responsibilities include oversight of access management policies and permitting, administering the County Transportation SDC program, and the truck permitting program. The successful applicant will possess strong management skills with engineering experience related to roadway and drainage construction, land development, project management, application of codes and regulations to roadway issues, and/or related traffic engineering. Preference will be given to applicants with skills and experience consistent with the programs they will be managing. This position requires a hands-on working manager who will also provide engineering services on special projects as needed. Applications must be submitted via http://agency.governmentjobs.com/marion/default.cfm Civil Engineering Associate 2 - Transportation Planner The successful candidate for the Transportation Planner is an engineer with an aptitude for long-range transportation planning who likes challenge and variety in their work and has the ability to work effectively in both the planning and traffic engineering fields. This position is responsible for the preparation, update, and maintenance of County transportation plans, coordination with cities and other jurisdictions on transportation planning issues, review of traffic impacts of land use and development proposals, identification and prioritization of project needs, development of planning related policy, and application for competitive project grants. The position requires a highly motivated engineer with excellent writing and interpersonal communication skills. In addition, they need to be detail-oriented, organized, flexible, and proactive in seeking information. Preference will be given to applicants with skills and work experience consistent with the duties of the position. The position requires a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or closely related engineering field, a minimum of four years of engineering work experience, including a minimum of two years in the traffic engineering field, and certification as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT). An Oregon Professional Engineering License is not required but is preferred. The Civil Engineering Associate 2 – Traffic Operations Engineer works under the direction of the Traffic Engineering Supervisor and functions as a lead worker for other positions in the traffic section. This position requires a highly motivated, resourceful, and detail-oriented person with strong written and verbal communication skills. Other required skills include proficiency in AutoCAD and traffic analysis software. Preference will be given to applicants with skills and work experience consistent with the duties of the position. The position requires a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or closely related engineering field, a minimum of four years of engineering work experience, including a minimum of two years in the traffic engineering field, and certification as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT).
