YMF volunteered at a Depave event at Boise-Eliot Elementary School

On Saturday, September 22nd, ASCE YMF volunteered at a Depave event at Boise-Eliot Elementary School. Along with approximately 100 volunteers, ASCE YMF helped to remove 4,000 of the required 8,800 square feet of asphalt required to give Boise-Eliot Elementary School an area for their future grassy playground area and rain garden for water quality and educational purposes.

Depave sawcut the area into squares while volunteers used pry-bars to lift and break the 5x5 panels into pieces. The blacktop was about 4 inches thick with a layer of fabric between lifts. After 4 hours of hard labor and being the last crew on site, ASCE YMF walked away feeling accomplished and proud.
