President Tom North, PE    Assistant USACE Bridge Safety Program Manager US Army Corps of Engineers   Tom North serves as the Senior Structural Civil Engineer in the Business Technical Division for the Northwest Division for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Portland, Oregon.    North has 29 years’ experience in the design and inspection of civil works projects and buildings. He’s worked as a structural Engineer and as the Portland District Critical Infrastructure Program Manager for civil assets that includes all dams, spillways, powerhouses, bridges, inland and costal navigation structures and fish facilities.    North currently serves as assistant bridge safety program manager for the inventory of USACE bridges. North actively promotes the Structural Engineering Communities of Practice, regional technical centers and regional technical specialist programs. He is the Northwest Division structural technical expert, works with the bridge center for technical expertise and is a senior staff level structural engineer providing structural engineering expertise and guidance for civil and military works for the Districts and other federal and non-federal agencies.    North received his Bachelors and Masters degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in structural Engineering from the University of Kansas. He is a registered professional engineer and a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers/Structural Engineering Institute (SEI), and the American Society of Steel Construction. He currently serves as coordinator for the USACE Seismic Safety Committee and is a member of the ASCE 7-22 committee for seismic loading and the USACE Technical Focus Committees for Bridges and Hydraulic Steel Structures.
