SOUTHWEST WASHINGTON BRANCH
COVERING THE TERRITORY OF CLARK, COWLITZ, SKAMANIA, AND WAHKIAKUM COUNTIES SINCE 1992
The Southwest Washington Branch of the Oregon Section of the ASCE was formed by a group of consulting engineers that wanted to be able to get together locally in Clark County to socialize and discuss topics specifically related to southwest Washington. Membership in the branch has grown to over 200 members. Members of the Branch continue to be involved with Oregon Section and Technical Group leadership.
The branch has been holding regular meetings since 1992. Over the years, in addition to monthly speaker meetings, the Branch has held seminars, ventured on technical tours, and been involved with committees. Past seminars have covered a broad range of topics including the use of Permeable Pavements, Ethics in Engineering, Design and Construction of Stormwater Infiltration Systems, and Design Considerations Related to the Americans with Disabilities Act. The branch has had previous involvement with the development of agency requirements including providing committees to review and comment on the 1995 Clark County Stormwater Ordinance and reviewing previous editions of the Clark County Road Standards.
Speaker meetings are typically held monthly in the Vancouver Area, from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm, the third Thursday of the month, September through June. The cost is $20.00. Speaker meetings focus on a diverse group of topics. Recent speakers have included contractors, local agencies, and consultants. We occasionally will organize an informal gathering for members to network with other local engineers.
